The winners from the new system start on the fourth page of this topic

Up until 16th January chessa has won $50 (2 wins) and casinokat won $125 (5 wins). They were the only posters on the days they won. Chessa, you will soon get your $50 by neteller. Those results were easy as there was only one poster each day. It's a bit more complicated now.

For 16th January, the entries were (note that my posts don't count at all):

The winner can only be known a couple of days after the date. You might think it's a stupid idea but the winner is calculated on the following day's (17th January) basketball results from a bbc website news page so the draw can't be rigged. Each ticket has an equal chance of winning. The basketball results haven't all come in yet so the winner will be announced tomorrow on the 18th.

I checked the NBA results at http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/us_sport/basketball_resul ts/default.stm and although I'm not sure if it's been updated properly yet, the total sum of the scores is 1515. There were 11 posts/entries so dividing it into 1515 gives 137.727 which is 137 remainder 8. The winning ticket would be ticket 8 which belongs to catrescue911 although this still needs to be confirmed.

EDIT: it looks like the results had all come through and catrescue911 is the winner for the 16th January draw. Congrats!

Edit: It's after midnight now British time and the bbc website is showing 11 games with the total score of 2012. The remainder this time is 10 (2012 divided by the 11 tickets is 182 remainder 10). Ticket number 10 is catrescue911 again but some scores may still be coming in.

There were 14 posts and there seems to have only been three basketball games for the 19th unless it's not updated yet (2am GMT 20th January). The total sum of the scores is 557 and divided by 14 gives 39 remainder 11 so Joeyl is probably the lucky winner this time with ticket 11.

In case anyone is wondering how the tickets are numbered, I explained elsewhere that it's done in chronological order of posts so the first post that day is ticket number zero and the second is ticket one and so on.

It isn't that hard for me to find the posts in order because I can just do a forum search using * for the author (to display posts by all authors) and set it to display all posts (rather than just topics) in post date order.

It's after midnight GMT 21st January so the basketball results for the 20th should be updated. It is showing 11 games with a total of 2022. Microsoft Excel has a function that returns the remainder called MOD.

Entering =MOD(2022,14) in Excel gives the remainder of 2022 divided by the 14 tickets.

The answer is 6 so the the winner looks to be dreaminbig

Congrats on winning the $25!

EDIT (taken a few edits to understand the following): A non-NBA game showed up on the site later for the 20th but it's non-US and I won't count it. I don't even understand some of the numbers and have no idea why the 'ULEB Cup' was listed with the US results. EDIT: the total score is 1096 (from 6 basketball matches shown as of 1am GMT 22nd January). 1096 MOD 7 = 4 so Joeyl has won again!
